Design of the bridge is based on the arch, a typical feature of genius loci of the Prague centre, which is exploited to the maximum of its technical properties. Basic shape of the bridge complies with the context of Prage bridges. Used materials, forming of the structure and details gives the structure contemporary air. Wide ending of the bridge provides for missing entrance area to the Market place. From the entrace gate made by splitting the bearing structure which straddles the walkway of the bridge the low arch points out the way across the river like a finger. On the other side the bridge ends with smaller arch of the similar construction wich spans the river shoulder. Height of the arch is suppresed to minimum so that it would not dominate the river valey.
